Hydrogeological Modelling and Assessment of Red Mud Dam

Gladstone, Queensland

EGC developed detailed groundwater model for the red mud dam to assess the overall long term impact to groundwater and the surrounding rivers of storing increased quantities of red mud generated by industry over the next 50 years.

Three dimensional (3D) groundwater model of the area was used to predict the impact on groundwater of the various geotechnical design options and to identify design improvements to minimise environmental impacts. The model allows facilitating future data collation and designing improvements. The model developed by EGC was successfully peer reviewed by third party.
